Advancing the Status of Women, Locally & Internationally
Chartered in 1979, The Zonta Club of Hilton Head Island supports women
locally and internationally by committing hundreds of service hours and
thousands of dollars to a wide-range of women-focused community service
projects such as the following:
• Providing cell phones, comfort kits, suitcases and hands-on painting
services to our local shelter for survivors of domestic abuse, Citizens
Opposed to Domestic Abuse (CODA)
• Assisting our local children's advocacy and rape crisis center, Hope
Haven, by providing comfort kits and additional support
• Supporting the Girl Scouts of Eastern South Carolina’s Gold Award
Candidates
• Maintaining our 30 year history of support to the Children’s Center
• Assisting the Lowcountry Coalition Against Human Trafficking
(LCAHT) with educational and public awareness forums
• Joining together with Zonta Clubs from Atlanta, Savannah, Bluffton
and Beaufort to create birthing kits for delivery to third world nations
• Working in conjunction with the United Nations campaign Say NO –
UNiTE to End Violence against Women, to energize the local
community to be more aware of violence issues confronting women
